COBRA RACING BLUE Aluminum differential. This differential can be uséd for either the front or back, as they are exactly the same. So if you need to replace both differentials on your car, make sure to add 2 in the QTY dropdown. The differential housing is made of aluminum to enhance aesthetics and durability. All too often, when doing serious bashing or racing, sometimes the gears inside of the differential strip the entire housing, leaving your car dead in it’s track. These aluminum differnetials solve this problem because it is much harder to strip aluminum than it is with stock plastic differential housing.

⚠️ Please Note: Not compatible with aluminum differential housings without “some” modification. Perfect / direct fit to stock or other plastic differential housing. The differential is pre-filled with grease, but for optimal performance and long-term durability, we recommend opening them up and either topping off the grease or replacing it with your preferred differential oil.
Break-In Period (Highly Recommended):
Once fully installed, it is highly recommended to perform a low-power break-in period. Run the vehicle at half power or on 2S for one to two full battery cycles before stepping up to 3S power. This helps ensure proper seating of internal components and extends the life of the differential.
Important Installation Note:
Depending on your specific setup, proper shimming may be required for correct differential operation. Failing to shim the differential correctly—when needed—can result in excessive wear and potential output gear failure. Always check fitment and adjust as necessary before running.

The build quality was excellent, but the differential did not fit in my Traxxas/4 x 4 the ring gear would not make contact with the pinion gear inside the differential housing. I’m not sure if I put it in incorrectly or if there’s something I’m missing. I would like you to let me know. I put my old differential in and it is fine, also the body of the cobra differential is slightly longer than the body of the Traxxas/4 x 4 stock differential.

Thanks for the feedback. These differentials are meant for the plastic / taxxas OEM housings. If you are installing these on any aluminum housings, they will not fit without modification. I am not sure if that is the case here, but assuming it is as these differentials are a direct fit to the plastic / traxxas OEM housings.
They reason why they won’t fit on the aluminum is, as you have stated, they have a slightly larger diameter then stock differentials (they are beefier). And aluminum housings are made to be an exact fit to stock differentials. So these will bind in aluminum, unless slightly modified.
FYI – we do have a note on the product page that these are not compatible on the aluminum housings without modifications. If it’s something else, send us an email with some photos, and we will be more then happy to assist you (we’re pretty sure it’s it’s most likely an installation issue).
